Johann Schumacher started martial arts in 1999 after developing Repetitive Strain Injury (RSI) from playing guitar.  As he was looking for an alternative to playing music, he turned to martial arts as it was more encompassing than music.  He found that it had many facets: healing, meditation, self defence, discipline, fitness, concentration, improved coordination, improved confidence, and it trains the brain, body, and nervous system to overcome any obstacle.

In 1999 he started with a Kung Fu style called Bagua Zhang and in addition to this, he also started Chen style Tai Chi with a student of Chen Xiao Wang and then the following year with Chen Xiao Wang himself.  Later he studied other styles of Bagua Zhang and Tai Chi.  He also studied Baji Quan, Tai Yi, Wudang Sword and various weapon styles as well as Pilates, Yoga, and Energy Healing.

In 2003 Johann started training with Sifu Bill Azizi and Eye of the Eagle on recommendation from a friend and student of Sifu Bill.  He started with Liu He Ba Fa, Waterboxing, Kung Fu, and then on to Wun Yuen with both Sifu Bill and Wun Yuen Grand Master Cornelius Coelho.  He became a disciple of Sifu Bill and later began teaching.

Johann has seen The Eye of the Eagle change and improve over the years.  The Eye of the Eagle martial arts has helped him to develop and grow as both a person and as a teacher.  His health and the RSI has also improved as Sifu Bill Azizi has taught him a lot including many new and unique healing techniques and concepts.

As a martial arts instructor, Johann is willing to pass on everything that he has learned from Sifu Bill Azizi and his past instructors to those who are willing to learn.
